Frequently Asked Questions

What is Accredo?
Accredo is fine art 35mm photography. The photographs are not enhanced or altered in any way. The images are developed the way they were taken. It is owned and operated by a husband and wife team Deidre and Johannes Vergeer. Deidre takes the photographs and Jan helps load the minivan and gives lots of personal support. Deidre specializes in outdoor floral and nature shots.

What does Accredo mean and why did you choose that for the name of a business?
Accredo (a-cray-doe) is Latin and means: to believe unconditionally, accept wholeheartedly. The name was chosen for personal significance. "We were born to make manifest the Glory of God that is within us." Nelson Mandela

What equipment do you use? Are the photographs altered or digitally changed?
I use a Cannon 35mm camera. I do not use digital because I think it takes away the art of photography. Accredo does NOT digitally enhance or alter any of the photographs shown in this website! None of my images are altered in any way. The way you see them is the way I take them. (Smudges or blurs you see on the website are a result of scanning the photograph for the website and only for the website and is not on the original image).

Anyone can take a digital image and alter it to meet their requirements. This is art, not a computer class. These images are made to last and represent the skill of the photographer as a photographer, not as a computer user.

Why 35mm and not digital?
There are a number of reasons:

Why print your images in a Photo Lab and not off of your computer?
A Photo Lab developed image is still there 100 plus years from now. An image printed off your computer will degrade after 20 years or so. Buying art is an investment that should be cherished for generations not just a decade or two. Also, by taking my pictures to a Photo Lab, I guarantee that my images were not ‘played’ with on a computer. They are original! I want you to know that this image is the exact same image I saw through my lens.

Where is Accredo located?
Racine, WI. Deidre is a native of Wisconsin.

Does Accredo accept credit cards?
Yes. Orders placed online are processed securely by PayPal. Please visit the galleries to purchase prints. We are also happy to accept a check or money order when using the printable order form.

If I order something from the web site how long will it take to get to me?
Once your check or money order has been cleared, your order will ship out within 10 days. Online orders are typically processed more quickly.

How are my photos shipped?
All items are mailed through the United States Post Office or UPS. All items will be encased in a cardboard box. Accredo does not guarantee undamaged product. You may purchase shipping insurance if you desire too (add $2.00 to your total) or request UPS shipment on the order form. UPS insures up to $100.00.

Will my photos be matted or framed?
No. If you would like matted or framed items, please visit me at a show and see if I have the piece matted or framed there. OR you may contact me via e-mail and we can discuss your needs further.

What can Accredo do for me?
Deidre is fully capable of taking outdoor shots of your family and/or pets, home or garden on a pre-assigned date. One rain date is scheduled also. Limitations are placed in regards to location.

I would like some photos taken of me with my dog, cat, horse, etc. What do I do?
First contact Deidre via the listed e-mail address, phone or by post mail. She will contact you regarding availability and approximate cost. You will need to have several days open to schedule the photo shoot.

Keep in mind that Deidre will make a few suggestions regarding your attire, your pet and location. These suggestions will help you have a better and more memorable photograph.

Do I get to keep my negatives?
Unfortunately, Accredo cannot include the negatives with your purchase. However, Accredo can develop photographs in a variety of sizes (3x5, 4x7, 5x8, 8x10, 11x14, 16x20) with numerous copies. Once the photographs have been paid for, they are yours to do with what you wish.

How long does it take to get a copy of the photo shoot images sent to me?
Your proofs will be mailed to you or dropped off within 1-2 weeks after your shoot date. They will be numbered on the back of each photo. You may call or e-mail your request. The "proofs" photos will need to be returned complete before your order will be sent out.

Will you ever travel out of state to take photos?
Absolutely. Deidre and her husband Jan travel on a regular basis. Please contact them to see if they will be in your area!

Does Accredo do weddings, studio/indoor shots or other special events?
Accredo is not set up to properly handle such special events. We suggest you contact local photographers for this need.
